Bali Diary~ Part 2

Hi guys,
I am back! Yesterday was a very busy and an unexpected day... I was preparing myself for work until my head of department called me and told me that I should start next Monday as the project I will be taking care of will only start next week.. sighs.. Luckily I was still at home and haven't prepare myself orelse it will start %^@#!$%&&%$#@@! all the way.. Sighs.. as my head of department, he is giving me a bad impression already. Well, if he does that again next week .. Honestly, I don't know whether I have confidence in him anymore.. Okay, back to my trip which I have promised to write about it here in my second post about Bali. Generally, it was a fun filled, eye-opening experience which I will never forget...

Reached LCCT at 8.00 am.. I was kinda shocked to see the condition of LCCT as I didnt expect it to be like that.. It wasn't that bad nor wasn't that good.. I expected it to be either too bad or atleast something like KLIA but it wasn't any mentioned. Mum took us to Coffee Bean for breakfast.. We wanted to have breakfast at Mc Donald's but that place was packed with people and some had to sit outside to have their meals.. So we checked in after that and went to the departure gate waiting for our flight to arrive.. Oo yeah, not to mention.. I will only take Aior Asia for domestic flights only next time.. Sighs.. Everyone had to fight for a seat in Air Asia and it made us look like uncivilised people.. Some even stood in front of the gate 40 minutes before it was opened..and the worst thing was when the gate opened.. everyone rushed to the plane.. Anyway, it was an experience I have not been through and an experience to last a lifetime.. Hahahaha.. Surprisingly! being a budget airplane... Air asia wasn't that bad after all.. the seats were spacious minus all the amenities and comforts of a MAS plane like a television or atleast a radio.. and the best part was.. we had to buy food on board.. but that was expected.. So it took us 3 hours to reach Denpasar, Indonesia.. Throughout the flight, I was talking to a man sitting next to me.. He was quite friendly and was nice enough to share his life experiences with me to kill time.. He recommended some great places to visit in Bali and we were talking about cameras.. Thanks to this long conversation, the journey to Bali felt like it was an hour more like three...We reached Denpasar International airport around 1.30pm and then we met up with our tour guide, John and our driver,Putu.. So we straight-away headed to our hotels.. Grandma and cousin stayed in Adhi Jaya Hotel and me and my mum stayed in Hard Rock Hotel.. Adhi Jaya looked very nice from the outside with its Balinese landscape but don't judge a book by its cover.. My grandma and cousin was in dismay when they saw the condition of their rooms.. It was like they were living in a 2 star hotel in Chow Kit. I was really very upset for them and so did mum.. Mum have already advised both of them to pay and extra RM 200 per person to be upgraded to Hard Rock Hotel but my cousin refused to do so.. So, they ended up staying a night with us at Hard Rock Hotel before they are transferred to a better hotel...A little bit about Hard Rock Hotel.. it was really a very nice hotel.. Maybe because of its name that is why they had to live up to their reputation.. It was more like a 5 star hotel than a 4 star hotel.. Every night they will invite a band to sing on a raised up stage which was kinda cool... I actually spent one night at the bar chilling out alone.. I need that moment alone during that time.. Not to mention, the landscape and the theme of the hotel was all associated with music.. It was really a nice and comfortable place.. During the night, John took us to a restaurant where they served typical Balinese food.. The setting was very nice like those you can see in a fancy Balinese Restaurant in KL.. The food was okay but my family didn't enjoy the food as they were not used to eating stuffs like that.. I told them that there is a first time for everything and we must try new things wherever we go which makes a vacation significant..Haha..despite my 'great' speech.. they still didn't like the food.. Understandable though... ;)

08.02.08-09.02.08

After having a good night's sleep.. Maybe it was due to the liquor I had before sleep.. It was a refreshing morning and had breakfast in the hotel...The breakfast was more like a lunch buffet... haha.. so you can imagine the variety of food they serve just for breakfast.. I can't imagine what they have to offer for lunch buffet.. Anyway, we then headed to Mount Batur which is a semi active volcano and we had lunch there.. It took us around 2 hours to reach that place.. The panorama was beautiful but the people selling merchandises there weren't.. They kept following you wherever you go hoping that you will buy something.. Although you try to brush them away but they still come after you.. I was not angry with them though as I know life is tough there and they have to earn some money to feed their family but I didn't need those stuffs and I actually fled to one corner where there was noone there.. There was this Indonesian boy whom kept persuading me to have a temporary tattoo.. he followed me wherever I went to.. and atlast I gave in and allowed him to exhibit his artistry on my hands.. and that cost me 40,000 Rp... around Rm 11 like that la.. He did a good job so it was worth it la.. Then our tour guide took us to the tea shop, Paddy Plantations and watched an Indonesian tale of the fight between good and evil.. The main characters were Rangda and Sandewa..The show was filled with traditional dances which was accompanied by the Indonesian orchestra called the 'Gamelan'..Malaysians will find this word very familliar.. John also took us to a Hindu Temple where there was this water spring which was believed to be very pure and sacred.. The Indonesian believes that the water can heal sicknessess and purify the body.. I saw many people washing their face with the water and some even washed their whole body with the water.. I didn't miss the chance to wash my own face too with the water.. Unfortunately, during that time it was raining... and there were many places which I wanted to see which I didn't had the opportunity to.. but it was nice to see other people's culture in a foreign land.. The temple had 3 main statues representing the 3 main gods in Hinduism.. Vishnu, Brahma and Siva..The day ended with a romantic dinner in Jimbaran and honestly... the food sucked this time!

The next day we visited another volcanic mountain and this time it is called Mt Agung.. It was like Cameron Highlands up there and we managed to pay a visit to a Buddhist temple to conduct our religious responsibilities.. Every year during chinese new year, I will go to the Buddhist temple to pay homage to Lord Buddha and get blessings from the monk and it felt kinda strange this year that I didn't do it as it has become an annual routine for me.. So by visiting the temple, I was able to perform my religious responsibilities and I felt so much better after that.. hehehe.. Then John took us to the Monkey Hill where there were many monkeys there.. The monkeys there were surprisingly not wild at all.. They were very cute as a matter of fact and one kept pulling my shorts to ask for food.. Luckily my shorts didnt drop down that time as it was very loose....Oo yeah, we visited a very popular landmark of Bali which is Tanah Lot where the biggest temple in Bali is situated..I took many photos overlooking the mighty Indian Ocean and also standing alone on a rock is the Tanah Lot temple which is accessible by boat or when the tide is low where we can walk over ...We then visited the wood factory and also the art gallery.. and the day ended with the trip to the Royal temple.. actually throughout these 2 days, we went to more places than I stated here but there is really too much to say and too much to explain.. One blog entry is not enough to explain everything and being the lazy me.. I won't..

We spent our last night in Bali doing lots of shopping..

10.02.08

The last day of our trip.. It was free and easy day where we did most of our shopping here.. Atlast I managed to get something for myself.. Hmm.. I only remembered that on this day i did a lot of bragaining and a lot of calculating as the Indonesian Rupiah contains many zeros and to convert into the Malaysian Ringgit was very taxing especially when you have to covert back to RM whenever you wanna buy something to see whether the price is reasonable or not.. Haha.. Anyway, it was an enjoyable trip.. bought many things..I hope to go to Bali again~!

Truly,
